Asim Ali

Asim Ali is currently serving as a Political Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Lima, Peru. He most recently served as the lead Human Rights Officer for North Africa in the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor at the U.S. Department of State. He has extensive experience in Middle East affairs, human rights, countering violent extremism, and public-private partnerships.

Previously, Asim worked as a Special Assistant to the Under Secretary for Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights. He also served in Secretary Kerry's Office of Global Partnerships, where he led engagement with private sector, civil society, and interagency partners to develop innovative public-private partnerships promoting economic growth in the Middle East and North Africa. He has earned multiple Meritorious and Superior Honor Awards for his service.

Asim received a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs and Economics from The Evergreen State College. He speaks Arabic, Hindi, Punjabi, and Urdu, and Spanish.
