Brian Kirk is a US Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Officer currently serving as Deputy Chief of Operations, Standing Joint Force Headquarters for Elimination (SJFHQ-E). In his current position he supports Unified Combatant Commanders with full spectrum WMD Elimination support. Prior to this assignment, he completed a tour as Officer-in-Charge of the EOD Detachment at Naval Support Activity Crane, IN where his team provided the explosive response to Research, Development, Testing, and Evaluation efforts of emerging weapons technologies for the US Navy and worked closely with law enforcement at the federal, state, and local levels to reduce explosive hazards in the region.

Previously, he deployed to Afghanistan as an EOD Special Operations Force (SOF) Platoon Commander and led five EOD teams conducting Village Stability Operations across four Afghan Provinces for the Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force – Afghanistan. During his first assignment, Brian commanded a geographically isolated EOD team providing emergency explosives operations response to coalition and Iraqi forces in hostile Al Anbar Province, Iraq.

Brian earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Southern California in 2007, graduating Summa Cum Laude. He is currently pursuing a Master of Science Degree in Explosives Engineering from the Missouri University of Science and Technology. He and his wife Brittany live in Alexandria, VA.
