Dr. Benjamin Priday

Dr. Benjamin Priday is a strategic analyst working at the nexus of geoeconomics and national security. He currently serves as the Special Assistant to the Director of Cost Assessment and Program Evaluation (CAPE) within the Office of the Secretary of Defense. In this role, he assists in providing robust, strategy-driven analysis to the Secretary and Deputy Secretary of Defense to support decisions on resource allocation and the size and shape of the future joint force. Previously in CAPE, Dr. Priday led analyses on emerging strategic security challenges, defense industrial base constraints, military compensation, economic impacts of force structure changes, and economic statecraft. Prior to beginning his national security career, Dr. Priday was a consultant at the World Bank and researched and wrote for think tanks on domestic and international tax policy, social assistance program reform, and charitable giving. In 2015-2016, he taught English at the Hebei Institute of International Business and Economics in China. Dr. Priday holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Texas A&M University and a B.A. in Economics from Rhodes College. He was raised in the Missouri Bootheel and now resides in Arlington, VA.
