Research Areas

Hamzeh Hadad is an Adjunct Fellow with the Middle East Security Program at the Center for a New American Security. He is also a visiting fellow at the European Council on Foreign Relations.

Hadad’s research focuses on U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East, with particular emphasis on U.S.-Iraqi relations. Hadad is an expert on government formation processes in Iraq, democratization, and federalism. He has written for The Washington Post, Small Wars Journal, Al Jazeera English, 1001 Iraqi Thoughts and other outlets. His analysis has been featured in The Associated Press, Agence France Presse, The Christian Science Monitor, The Independent, PRI The World, France24, BBC World Service, and others.

In 2021, Hadad was an advisor to the president of the Trade Bank of Iraq. He holds an MA in international affairs, specializing in international development policy, from the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs in Ottawa.
