Lily Schlieman

Former Intern, Defense Program

Lily Schlieman is a former Joseph S. Nye, Jr. Intern for the Defense program at the Center for a New American Security (CNAS). She is also a M.A. student at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa (UH) in Pacific Island Studies with a Graduate Certificate in Ocean Policy. She received her B.A. in International Studies and Political Science from Macalester College. She competed as a member of the Varsity Track and Field team at both UH and at Macalester, where she was selected to serve as a team captain.

Prior to joining CNAS, Lily interned at the East-West Center in Washington, where she designed a 10-part Congressional Staff training program on the strategic importance of the Pacific Islands. She also interned at Pacific Forum, where she is a member of their Young Leaders Program and at the USAID Regional Development Mission for Asia - Indo-Pacific Hub.
