Colonel Nathan Fleischaker is an active-duty Marine currently serving as the acting Assistant Deputy Commandant for Evaluations and acting Director of the Program Analysis and Evaluation Division within the Programs and Resources Department, Headquarters U.S. Marine Corps. His recent staff and command assignments include serving as the Director for Oceania on the National Security Council staff; the Inspector-Instructor for 3d Battalion, 23d Marines where he supported and oversaw a 650-person Marine Corps Reserve infantry battalion; a strategic advisor in the Commandant of the Marine Corps’ Office of Net Assessment providing advice and analysis to the Commandant, Assistant Commandant and other senior leaders; Chief of Plans at the Joint Force Headquarters – Cyberspace (Marines) in Fort Meade, MD where he oversaw planning efforts to integrate Cyberspace Operations and Capabilities into Combatant Command future operations and plans, focusing on support to DOD counter terrorism efforts. Earlier in his career he served as an infantry battalion Operations Officer, Company and Platoon Commander, a Joint Terminal Air Controller, and a combat advisor to the Iraqi Army. During his career, he has completed multiple overseas tours including combat deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan and numerous multi-lateral partnerships and exercises. A 2003 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy (Electrical Engineering), he has a PhD in Political Science from Stanford University and other graduate degrees from Oxford University (PPE) and the Marine Corps University’s School of Advanced Warfighting (Operational Studies). Originally from Southern California, he currently lives in Northern Virginia with his wife Lisa and their four children.
