Preston Marquis is an attorney at the law firm Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr (“WilmerHale”). As an associate in WilmerHale’s Defense and National Security Practice, Preston counsels clients on complex legal issues pertaining to cybersecurity, government contracts, and sanctions and export control compliance. Previously, Preston was an intelligence officer with the Central Intelligence Agency for over five years. As a full performance political analyst, Preston wrote and briefed on international terrorism and South Asia-related issues, including for the President’s Daily Brief. He served overseas in the region and completed a rotation as CIA’s counterterrorism briefer to the National Security Council. Preston earned his Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School, and a Master of Arts in Security Studies and a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University Walsh School of Foreign Service. He is passionate about leadership development and mentoring and remains a proud Eagle Scout and Scouting America volunteer.
