Samantha Daniels is the director of operations for The War Horse News, a nonprofit newsroom dedicated to exploring the human impact of the last two decades of American conflict.

During her tenure, The War Horse has doubled in size, both in staff and in budget, with an increasing editorial tempo producing impactful coverage ranging from toxic exposure to military justice reform. Amidst a declining landscape for local and national journalism, the nonprofit news model seeks to be a force multiplier for decimated newsrooms, providing access to coverage to help bridge the civil-military divide.

As part of the organization's mission to ensure those most impacted by war have a voice in the national conversation, Ms. Daniels has facilitated impactful events with participation from award-winning journalists, the Secretary of Veterans Affairs, the Deputy Secretary of Defense, and the First Lady to drive the national conversation on the most pressing issues facing military families.

Before joining The War Horse, Ms. Daniels served as program manager for State Department Foreign Service Institute contracts. She has a BA in international studies from American University and a MS in finance from the University of Pittsburgh. Ms. Daniels is a FINRA Military Spouse Fellow and Accredited Financial Counselor who has volunteered her time to support service members' financial well-being.
