Gregory C. Allen to Serve as Chief of Strategy and Communications in the Joint Artificial Intelligence Center

Washington, September 10, 2019 – The Center for a New American Security (CNAS) congratulates Gregory C. Allen, former Adjunct Senior Fellow with the Technology and National Security Program, on his new position as the Chief of Strategy and Communications in the Joint Artificial Intelligence Center (JAIC) at the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD). The JAIC’s mission is to “transform the DoD by accelerating the delivery and adoption of AI to achieve mission impact at scale.”

“Greg’s expertise made a significant contribution to our team’s ongoing artificial intelligence and national security research agenda, as evidenced by his report, ‘Understanding China's AI Strategy.’ His expertise and passion for these issues will be extremely valuable to the Joint AI Center as it continues to lead the Pentagon’s efforts on artificial intelligence,” said Paul Scharre, Senior Fellow and Director of the CNAS Technology and National Security Program.

Mr. Allen joins a distinguished group of former CNAS experts serving in key positions across the U.S. government, including at the Defense Department, the administration, and on Capitol Hill.
