CNAS Announces Creation of Task Force on Strategy, Technology and Global Defense Industry

The Center for a New American Security (CNAS) is pleased to announce the creation of the Task Force on Strategy, Technology and the Global Defense Industry, co-chaired by Mr. William J. Lynn III, former Deputy Secretary of Defense and Chief Executive Officer of Finmeccanica North America and DRS Technologies, and Admiral James G. Stavridis, USN (Ret.), former NATO commander and Dean of The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University.    
 
CNAS’ Task Force on Strategy, Technology and the Global Defense Industry will examine key strategic and technological trends, the current state of the industry and the viability of the existing competitive environment and provide recommendations for adaptation in the global defense industry.
 
The task force will be directed by a steering committee composed of current and former industry, national defense and military leaders, including CNAS CEO Robert O. Work; CNAS Senior Fellow and Director of the Technology and National Security, Ben FitzGerald; Co-Chairman and Co-CEO of Stone Key Group, Denis Bovin; Managing Director International Business of AgustaWestland, Geoff Hoon; former Chief of the Australian Defence Force,ACM Angus Houston, AC AFC (Ret.); president and CEO of BAE Systems, Linda Hudson; former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Manufacturing and Industrial Base Policy,Brett B. Lambert; former Senator Joseph I. Lieberman; president and CEO of Textron Systems Corporation, Ellen Lord; Deputy Chief Operating Officer and the chairman and CEO, International, of 21st Century Fox, James R. Murdoch; and CEO of Airbus Group Inc., Sean O’Keefe.  The Task Force will additionally consist of a working group comprised of senior executives, defense experts and thought leaders.
