CNAS Elects Karen Dahut to Board of Directors

Washington, January 30, 2024 — The Center for a New American Security (CNAS) today announced the election of Karen Dahut to its Board of Directors.

“We are thrilled to welcome Karen Dahut to the Center,” said Michèle Flournoy, Chair of the CNAS Board of Directors. “Her leadership at the highest levels of technology and defense will make her an invaluable member to our Board of Directors and research team.”

Dahut currently serves as CEO of Google Public Sector where she helps U.S. state, local, and federal agencies, along with educational institutions, to work with Google technology to solve complex problems.

Prior to Google, Dahut led Booz Allen Hamilton’s $4 billion global defense business and global commercial business sector. Under her leadership, Booz Allen became the premier digital integrator, helping federal agencies use technology in support of their missions. Dahut began her career as an officer in the U.S. Navy.

Dahut is an expert on technology, the future of work, innovation, and inclusive leadership. She serves on the board of several nonprofit and private organizations such as Dexcom, Eisner Advisory Group, and previously served on Tech Data Corporation’s board. She is a trustee of the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum and serves as a board member for the Viterbi School of Engineering, Department of Computer Science, University of Southern California.
