CNAS Welcomes New Adjunct Fellow Markus Anderljung

Washington, March 1, 2023—The Center for a New American Security (CNAS) is pleased to welcome Markus Anderljung to its lineup of adjunct professionals. Anderljung joins CNAS as an Adjunct Fellow in the Technology and National Security Program.

Markus Anderljung is Head of Policy at the Centre for the Governance of AI (GovAI). His work aims to produce high-quality AI governance policy recommendations. His research focuses on AI regulation, compute governance, responsible research norms in AI, expert and public opinion on AI governance, and risks from the misuse of AI. He was previously seconded to the UK Cabinet Office as a Senior AI Policy Specialist advising on the UK's regulatory approach to AI, the Centre for the Governance of AI’s Deputy Director, and completed his undergraduate and graduate studies at the University of Cambridge. His work has been published in Science, Nature Machine Intelligence, International Joint Conference on AI, Journal of Artificial Intelligence Research, the Proceedings of the AAAI/ACM Conference on AI, Ethics, and Society, and has been presented to the American Political Science Association, Brookings Institution, and the Bipartisan Policy Center.
