CNAS Welcomes Will Harwood as Director of Communications

Washington, March 27, 2024 — The Center for a New American Security (CNAS) is delighted to welcome Will Harwood as its new Director of Communications. Before joining CNAS, Will served as head of communications and public affairs for Lidl U.S., a division of the Schwarz Group—the world’s fourth largest retailer.

“Will combines global experience with a top-flight private sector career in communications,” said Richard Fontaine, Chief Executive Officer at CNAS. “His creativity and expertise will help the Center communicate our research and policies even more effectively.”

Will has worked in journalism, publishing, and global strategic communications for more than 15 years, holding executive positions in both agency and international corporate settings. He has spent much of his life and career involved in global affairs; and has lived, worked, and studied in both Germany and South Korea.

Will is an active member of Braver Angels, a national nonprofit focused on reducing polarization and partisan animosity in the United States. He is also a member of the George C. Marshall International Center, which is dedicated to preserving the legacy and leadership of the eponymous legendary American five-star general and statesman.

Harwood can be reached at wharwood@cnas.org or 202-553-9122.
