Sampler to UNAMA?

I read on Laura Rozen's blog that Larry Sampler is in line to replace Peter Galbraith in UNAMA. Discussion of Galbraith and his controversial exit aside, I think the world of Larry Sampler, a former Special Forces team sergeant from Georgia with a lot of experience in both Afghanistan and the UN. (He used to work for Lakhdar Brahimi.) Readers of this blog would like him as well. He is very much a "muddy boots" kind of guy, and if I am correct, his wife is a USAID officer and fellow Afghanistan hand. Larry would bring both a lower profile and quiet competence to the job.
