Australia Bows Out of COP31 Bid
Tensions are growing in Europe as Russia continues to strike an aggressive stance over the war in Ukraine. In the latest provocation, the UK says a Russian spy ship operating on the edge of its maritime borders has used lasers to disrupt Air Force pilots monitoring its activities while gathering electronic intelligence and mapping crucial undersea cables. It comes as Russia launched hundreds of fresh drone and missile attacks in Ukraine killing at least 25 people. Jim Townsend, CNAS adjunct senior fellow, joined the Australian Broadcasting Corporation to discuss the growing tensions.
