A Summer Calendar for Advancing U.S. Policy toward the South China Sea
Asia-Pacific Security Deputy Director Dr. Ely Ratner authors the agenda “A Summer Calendar for U.S. Policy toward the South China Sea,” detailing specific actions the United States should take in the coming months to breathe new life into U.S. policy and enhance U.S. economic and security interests in Asia.
The author describes four discrete opportunities for U.S. officials to contribute to long-term peace and stability in the South China Sea. These include specific proposals for critical upcoming engagements at the Shangri-La Dialogue, the G-7 Summit, the U.S.-China Strategic Security Dialogue and the ASEAN Regional Forum.
