Will the U.S. Allies Be Able to Shift From Dependency to Strategic Autonomy?
President Donald Trump has been pushing traditional allies to shoulder more of their own defense burden. Such directives are leaving longtime US partners seeking to shift their strategic policies from dependency to strategic autonomy. Jim Townsend, an adjunct senior fellow at the Center for a New American Security, joins Al Jazeera's This is America to discuss the new U.S. approach to alliances and defense partnerships.
