Bob Butler is a former Adjunct Senior Fellow with the Technology and National Security Program. He is currently the Senior Vice President of Critical Infrastructure Protection Operations for AECOM, an $18-billion, fully integrated infrastructure and support services firm with the ability to design, build, finance, and operate infrastructure assets globally. Mr. Butler serves as chief of operations for global corporate critical infrastructure protection campaign and leads strategy development for a $500M campaign to provide integrated secure data delivery to critical infrastructure clients.

Prior to joining AECOM, Mr. Butler was Co-Founder and Managing Director at Cyber Strategies LLC, where he guided new business development for the largest provider of security guards to the federal government, provided strategy and technical support services to Johns Hopkins University’s Applied Physics Lab, and served as Chief Security and Government Advisor for a leading provider of modular data center technology. He also previously served as the Chief Security Officer and Senior Vice President of IO Data Centers LLC, a privately held data center “builder” and provider.

Mr. Butler has had a distinguished career in information technology, intelligence, and national security in both public and private sectors, nationally and internationally. He is a retired U.S. Air Force colonel and a former member of the Defense Department’s Senior Executive Service, and served as the first Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Cyber and Space Policy. Mr. Butler earned a BS degree in computer information systems from Manhattan College and a MBA from the University of Maryland.
