Originally from Dublin, Ohio, Commander Andrew Adams graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology and a second discipline in National Security Affairs. He also holds a Master’s degree in Cyber Systems and Operations from the Naval Post-Graduate School and is an ISC2 Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).

His tactical tours include direct support Intelligence Officer in U.S. INDOPACOM and Signals Warfare Officer in USS FORREST SHERMAN (DDG-98) during a U.S. SIXTH Fleet deployment supporting NATO operations. Additionally, he was as a Cyber National Mission Force Task Force Deputy Commander, where he led 500 joint service members in cyber defense.

His shore duties include Navy Information Operations Command Hawaii Division Officer, National Security Agency/Central Security Service Hawaii Senior Watch Officer, U.S. FLEET CYBER COMMAND/U.S. TENTH Fleet Future Planner, Cyber Strike Activity Sixty-Three Department Head, and Officer-in-Charge of Navy Information Operations Detachment, Groton.

Commander Adams is a qualified Information Warfare Officer and Surface Warfare Officer. His personal decorations include the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), the Joint Service Achievement Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and the Armed Forces Service Medal.
