Claire Powell serves as a Communications Director at BAE Systems. Through her work in their Platforms & Services Sector, she helps enable a wide portfolio of mission systems that support the warfighter, including artillery and missile launching systems, advanced precision strike munitions, energetic materials, combat vehicles, naval guns, naval ship repair and modernization, and other technologies for U.S. and international customers. In this realm, she has worked with executives and military leaders to refine and strengthen their message for a wide range of audiences, including Congressional testimony, national and local media, investor relations and internal communications.

Prior to working in defense, Claire’s portfolio of communications experience included work in finance, retail and insurance industries. In 2021, she was one of 30 women selected from across the world for the International Women’s Forum Fellows program for high-achieving women leaders on their path to the C-suite, featuring academic partnerships with Harvard Business School and INSEAD. In 2022, Claire co-founded an organization, The Boardroom, focused on developing networks and strategies to help advance women to higher levels of leadership.

She is a graduate of Wesleyan University with a BA in English and holds an Editing Certificate from the University of Chicago. She resides in southwest Virginia with her husband Jeff.
