Derek Smith

Derek has co-founded several start-ups which he built as CEO including the market-defining cybersecurity companies Oakley Networks (the first Data Leak Prevention company) which was acquired by Raytheon and is now a foundational part of Forcepoint; and Shape Security (the first bot defense company) which was acquired by F5. Derek also served as Senior Advisor for Cyber-Policy at the Office of the Secretary of Defense in the Pentagon. Derek is currently the Senior Vice President for Security at F5 and is a strategic partner at Ballistic Ventures, a cyber-security focused venture capital fund.
