Erin Clancy is a Foreign Service Officer currently serving in the State Department’s Office of United Nations Political Affairs where she is responsible for coordinating U.S. policy on Libya, Syria, and gender issues in the UN Security Council. Her previous diplomatic assignments include tours in Syria, Jordan, and the Sultanate of Oman. In 2013, she was recognized as a foreign policy “innovator” for her political reporting in the first two years of Syria’s civil war by the Diplomatic Courier’s annual list of the Top 99 Foreign Policy Professionals Under 33. Erin has received numerous State Department awards for meritorious service. She is also a member of the CNAS National Security Leaders Program, the Truman National Security Project, and a recipient of the Thomas R. Pickering Foreign Affairs Fellowship. Erin is a graduate of Whittier College and the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. She hails from Huntington Beach, California.
