
Katie Galgano
Former Executive Research Assistant
Katie Galgano is a former research assistant with the Executive Team at the Center for a New American Security (CNAS). Her research focuses on democracy and the rule of law, homeland security, and diversity, equity, and inclusion. Katie also serves as the director of the Make Room initiative at CNAS, which aims to empower communities underrepresented in national security, educate the next generation of leaders, and provide a platform to share their expert perspectives.
Prior to joining CNAS, Katie interned with the Twenty First Century Group. She also interned with the U.S. Department of State in the Bureau of International Organization Affairs and the Secretary's Office of Global Women’s Issues, where she assisted with the development of the U.S. Government Strategy on International Basic Education.
Her commentary and analysis have appeared in publications such as The Hill, RealClearWorld, Military.com, and The National Interest. Katie graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Baylor University with a B.A. in International Studies. She is proficient in Spanish.
