Mike Mabrey is a F/A-18 instructor pilot at VFA-106 where he trains the next generation of Navy fighter pilots and weapon system officers for aircraft carrier-based combat operations. Previously, he deployed twice onboard the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower and led missions supporting ground forces in Afghanistan and maritime security in the Arabian Gulf. He has accumulated more than 1,500 flight hours in military aircraft and 266 carrier landings.

Mike graduated with distinction from the U.S. Naval Academy and earned two graduate degrees in international politics from the University of Cambridge. His graduate research contrasted the British experience of working collaboratively with the United States or collectively with European nations on high-cost, next-generation procurement programs. Recently, he served on the Secretary of the Navy’s Task Force Innovation and the Chief of Naval Operations’ Rapid Innovation Cell (CRIC) where he advised senior leaders on military talent management strategies.

His wife, Allison, is a U.S. Navy Meteorology and Oceanography Officer, and they live in Norfolk, VA with their three daughters.
