Patrick Barry

Patrick Barry is the Counselor for Counterterrorism and Intelligence in the Office of the Secretary at the Department of Homeland Security. In this role, Pat advises DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson and DHS Deputy Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas on a broad range of national security and intelligence matters. Together with DHS Senior Officials, and Component leadership, Pat drives Department initiatives concerning information sharing, border security, aviation security and international cooperation. He coordinated DHS’s contributions to the development of UN Security Council Resolution in September 2014, and he was the lead DHS representative in a series of engagements orchestrated by the Department of State to develop international responses to combat terrorist travel.

Previously, Pat was the Special Assistant to then Under Secretary and DHS Counterterrorism Coordinator Rand Beers. In this role, he supported the development and implementation of DHS counterterrorism operations. He contributed to the founding of the Department’s Counterterrorism Advisory Board, DHS’s first department-wide forum for coordinating counterterrorism response. Prior to government service, Pat was a Policy Associate at the National Security Network.

Pat holds an Honors Degree in History from Haverford College.
