Taylor Dewey is a Foreign Service Officer with the Department of State. He is also a Lieutenant Commander, Surface Warfare Officer, in the Navy Reserves where he is Officer in Charge of a Coastal Riverine Platoon.

He was most recently a Presidential Management Fellow serving as a Special Assistant to General Dempsey, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and in the Department of State's Bureau of Legislative Affairs, covering Israel/Palestine Affairs, Jordan and Lebanon. He previously worked for The Carter Center and Search for Common Ground. In the Navy, he deployed twice to the Arabian Gult and once to the Mediterranean, served in the US Embassy in Honduras, and helped revise the Cooperative Strategy for 21st Century Seapower in the Pentagon.

LCDR Dewey cycled the perimenter of the contiguous United States and kayaked the length of numerous rivers for charity. He speaks five foreign languages. He is a Term Member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and a member of the International Institute for Strategic Studies. He has a B.A. in Government from Cornell University and an M.A. from Stanford University in International Policy Studies. He is currently an M.A. candidate at the Naval War College, and has studied in Italy, Australia, and Israel.
