David Miliband and Yalda Hakim Join CNAS Board of Advisors

Washington, October 4, 2023 — The Center for a New American Security (CNAS) is delighted to announce the addition of David Miliband and Yalda Hakim to its Board of Advisors.

“We are thrilled to welcome David Miliband and Yalda Hakim to the CNAS Board of Advisors,” said Richard Fontaine, Chief Executive Officer of CNAS. “David’s significant humanitarian and foreign policy leadership, combined with Yalda’s landmark journalism - spanning from Afghanistan to Ukraine - will greatly enrich the Center’s global focus.”

David Miliband is the President and CEO of the International Rescue Committee (IRC). Under his leadership, the IRC has expanded its humanitarian efforts globally, helping those affected by conflict and disaster. Before joining the IRC, Miliband served as the 74th Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs of the United Kingdom, where he made significant contributions to human rights and environmental policy.

Yalda Hakim is an award-winning international correspondent and documentary filmmaker. Host of the flagship program Daily Global with Yalda Hakim on BBC News, she will soon take on the role of Lead World News Presenter at Sky News UK. Yalda has spent two decades reporting from the frontlines of the world’s most consequential and dangerous stories, including extensive coverage of the Ukraine conflict and the aftermath of the Afghan government’s collapse.
