Nadine Zaatar

Ms. Zaatar is a career civil servant with the Department of State and currently serves as the Economic Unit Chief in the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs’ Office of Israel and Palestinian Affairs. In this position, she is the primary Department of State liaison and advisor on Israeli and Palestinian economic issues and most recently spearheaded the restart of U.S. foreign assistance to the Palestinian people. She also currently serves as the Senior Advisor to U.S. Lead Negotiator for the Israel-Lebanon Maritime Boundary Negotiations.

Ms. Zaatar has managed a wide range of economic policy, development, humanitarian, and security issues across the Middle East. She previously directed a $5 billion foreign assistance portfolio supporting U.S. national security objectives in Algeria, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Western Sahara, and West Bank and Gaza, and coordinated multilateral negotiations on the five-year, $6.38 billion Memorandum of Understanding between the United States and the Government of Jordan.

Ms. Zaatar holds an M.I.P.P. from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies and BAs in Political Science and International Affairs from the University of Mary Washington.
