Thu Rajan is a Foreign Service Officer in the U.S. Department of State and in her current position, focuses on developing policy and managing the admissions of refugees from the Middle East, North Africa, and Eurasia. A career diplomat since 2007, Ms. Rajan has worked extensively on national security, human rights, and immigration policy in southeast Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. She most recently worked on U.S.-Vietnam relations and in that role, helped expand bilateral and defense ties as well as deepen U.S. commitment in the Indo-Pacific region. During her Foreign Service career, Ms. Rajan contributed to the development and implementation of U.S. human rights, security, and trade policy, particularly in Myanmar, Nigeria, and Zimbabwe.

A native Washingtonian, Ms. Rajan graduated with honors from Pacific Lutheran University, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and International Affairs. She holds a Master's in Public Administration from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University.
